7:55pm: Kanit wins huge one, finishes the job!
Level 23 - Blinds 100,000-200,000 (30,000 ante)
The final hand of the tournament saw Chance Kornuth raise from the button before Mustapha Kanit three-bet all in. Kornuth indicated he was going to call but wanted to have a think first. He sipped his green tea as Kanit chatted away to him.
"Deuces never loses!" he said, maybe hoping that's what Kornuth had. He didn't though and Kanit would have to survive a race after Kornuth called.

The board came [2s][8c][7d][qs][js] to see the threes hold up. Kornuth had to settle for second in his third 25k final table in a row, whereas Kanit has a triple of a different kind - a €25k title to add to the €50k and €10k High Roller titles that he's already won on the EPT.
Kanit takes €501,640 for first. Kornuth takes €360,150 for second.
7.30pm: Kanit gets level again
Level 23 - Blinds 80,000-160,000 (20,000 ante)
Despite mediocre holdings of [ts][8s] for Chance Kornuth and [9h][8d] for Mustapha Kanit, the two got involved in a pre-flop raising battle and swelled a million-plus pot before any community cards came down.
And that just made it worse. The flop came [6h][9d][8c], which was something for everyone, but Kornuth checked. Kanit bet 1 million and Kornuth called. The turn was [qs] and Kornuth checked again. Kanit bet 1.8 million this time and Kornuth made a very shrewd fold.
Kanit comes back into the chip lead, but only just. They're pretty even now: Kanit with 8.6 million; Kornuth with 8.2 million. -- HS
7.30pm: Kornuth takes chip lead
Level 23 - Blinds 80,000-160,000 (20,000 ante)
Chance Kornuth is having the run of this very early heads-up play and now has the chip lead. It's the first time Mustapha Kanit has surrendered it.
Kanit opened his button, with [kd][kc]. Chance Kornuth called with [ah][7h]. It took them to a pot of [9s][qh][2c], which was good for Kanit. He bet and Kornuth called.
The turn was another excellent card for Kornuth: [as]. Kanit still bet, this time 850,000, and Kornuth called again, now ahead. The [6c] came on the river and Kornuth checked.
Kanit kept his line. He bet 1.4 million. And Kornuth didn't seem to like it at all. After a few sips on his cup of tea, he emerged with a call--and won. He now has 10.9 million, which is ahead of Kanit's 6.2 million. -- HS
7.25pm: Straight run out for Kornuth

A tremendous run out here for Chance Kornuth, who rivered a straight with his [ts][6h] on a board of [6d][jh][9h][qc][8c]. Better: Kanit had [qs][jd] and made a bet of slightly more than a million on the river, which Kornuth called.
That evened them up a bit. -- HS
7.20pm: Off they go again

"Okay, let's have some fun." That was Chance Kornuth to Mustapha Kanit as this heads up battle got under way. Eyes down for the race to the title. -- HS
7pm: Charlie Carrel eliminated in third place (€234,100)
Level 23 - Blinds 80,000-160,000 (20,000 ante)
Charlie Carrel managed to double up once but his comeback was short lived and he was eliminated in third place.
His double up came via the stack of Chance Kornuth when his [kc][3s] stayed ahead of the American's [qd][9c] on a [2c][5s][4h][8s][6h] board. The next time he was all in though, he couldn't find the win.
Kanit limped in from the small blind with [js][jd] and called immediately when Carrel shoved for 2,600,000 with [ah][4h]. The board ran [9s][5d][5s][7c][4s] to hand the pot and the scalp to Kanit.

6.55pm: Triple up for Kornuth in three-way insanity
Level 22 - Blinds 80,000-160,000 (20,000 ante)
To let you in on a secret: we'd been waiting for this hand for a little while. In "real life", the hand that just played out on the EPT Live stream happened about 45 minutes ago, and the chatter about the hand had permeated all the way to the press room. Here's why.
Mustapha Kanit was on the button and raised to 325,000. Here's the reason: he had [kh][kc]. Charlie Carrel, with about 2.75 million shoved from the small blind. He had [5h][5c]. And then Chance Kornuth found [ad][9s] in the big blind and wanted a count. He called too!
Kanit was a 65 percent favourite at this point to end the tournament. And his odds got even better through a flop of [qc][3h][4h]. Carrel loved the [5d] turn, though, as it gave him a set and seemed likely to triple him up. But then it got even weirder. The [2c] came on the river!
Kornuth therefore tripled through with his straight. Carrel won the side pot against Kanit, but ended up losing chips, and Kanit lost loads.
The hand finished with stacks like this: Kanit 9.3 million; Kornuth 6.75 million and Carrel 1.04 million. Poker, huh. Who'd play it? -- HS
6:45pm: Carrel doubles trough Kanit
Level 23 - Blinds 80,000-160,000 (20,000 ante)
After no flops for the first few hands due to walks and shoves that weren't called. Something finally gave, and it ended with Charlie Carrel doubling through Mustapha Kanit.
The latter moved all in from the small blind with [7h][4s] and Carrel called all in with [js][ts]. The board ran [3h][jd][tc][qc][jc] to make Carrel a full house. He moved up to 2,690,000 and Kanit dropped to a still dominating 12,180,000. -- MC
6:35pm: No deal
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
According to sources on the tournament floor, who also happened to take a photo of it, the three remaining players talked about a deal during the break, but Chance Kornuth decided against it. Kanit is in such a dominant position that Kornuth's share of a proposed chop was too small to warrant accepting it. They play on.
6:10pm: Kanit is crushing at latest break
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
They are now heading to a 20-minute break and Mustapha Kanit must feel that one hand is on the trophy. The stacks at this point:
Mustapha Kanit: 13.485 million
Chance Kornuth: 2.515 million
Charlie Carrel: 1.180 million
6:08pm: Kanit trips up Kornuth
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
Chance Kornuth lost a sizeable pot to Mustapha Kanit in the last hand of the level.
He just limped in with [7h][7d] and Kanit ([jc][6c]) and Charlie Carrel ([qc][9s]) came along for the ride. The flop came [as][5s][6s] and Kornuth bet 160,000 when the action was checked to him. Only Kanit called and he hit the lead with the [6s] turn. He decided to bet, for 375,000, and Kornuth called to the [9h] river where he faced a bet for another 800,000. He called and saw the bad news. -- MC
6:05pm: A pleasure playing with you, man
Bertilsson out in fourth €176,640
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
That possible reprieve for Chance Kornuth earlier has actually cost Anton Bertilsson his tournament. The soaraway leader at the end of Day 1 (and for a lot of Day 2) is now out in fourth, winning €176,640.
Kornuth open shoved from the small blind with [ad][6d] and Bertilsson called for his tournament life with [kd][td]. With even his flush draw covered, Bertilsson was in bother.
The board of [3d][6c][5s] [2s][8d] hit nobody and Bertilsson is gone. "A pleasure playing with you, man," he said as he shook all the hands around the table. -- HS
6pm: Kanit folds keeping all others short
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
Chance Kornuth open shoved from the button with pocket sevens and Mustapha Kanit had a lot of thinking to do with [ah][8d] in the big blind. Eventually Kanit folded -- a let off for Kornuth? -- and the American admitted he was incredulous after Kanit truthfully revealed what he had. "I don't think you fold ace-eight," Kornuth said. He did, Chance. Check the stream. -- HS
5:50pm: Limping queens
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
Chance Kornuth found queens in the small blind, with action folded to him. He opted only to limp, with Anton Bertilsson checking his big blind.
That meant they went to a flop of [kd][7d][2s] with the bare minimum invested and Kornuth continued his slow approach. He checked. Bertilsson bet 135,000 and Kornuth called.
The [2d] came on the turn and Kornuth allowed Bertilsson either the chance to bet again or take a free card (and hope to see a diamond). Bertilsson took the latter part but didn't get his wish. The [2c] came on the river.
Kornuth now decided to invest in the pot. He bet 300,000 and Bertilsson folded. --HS
5:40pm: Kanit has no problem being dominated
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
Mustapha Kanit's stack has grown even more after he hit his kicker on the river in hand versus Charlie Carrel.
The Italian opened to 250,000 with [kc][jc] from the button and called after Carrel three-bet to 700,000 from the next seat. The flop fanned [8d][5h][7h] and both players checked to the [6c] turn where Carrel checked. Kanit bet 550,000 and Carrel called.
The [jd] appeared on the river and Carrel checked once more. He then tanked for several minutes after Kanit bet 950,000.
"Why do I feel like you have nothing?" Carrel said.
"I'm a guy who trusts my feelings, and I feel like I have something!" responded Kanit.
Maybe that was the line that convinced Carrel to call. He did -- and saw the bad news. -- MC
5:20pm: Ten million Kanit
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (10,000 ante)
Mustapha Kanit is beyond ten million now, winning a small pot against Chance Kornuth. Kanit raised with the mighty [4c][3c] pre-flop and Kornuth defended from the small blind with [ah][tc].
The flop came [js][2s][5d] and Kornuth checked. Kanit bet 250,000 with an open-ended straight draw and Kornuth, still ahead, called.
The turn was the [9d], which they both checked, and then the river came [3h] and Kornuth checked again. The small pair now gave Kanit showdown value and he checked behind.

5:10pm: Kornuth moves into second place
Level 22 - Blinds 60,000-120,000 (20,000 ante)
Chance Kornuth has gone from short stack to second place in a short space of time. He took a pot of Charlie Carrel in a battle of the blinds to just leapfrog the Brit.
Carrel limped in from the small blind with [7d][6c] and Kornuth checked his option with [qh][9s]. Carrel continued for 125,000 on a [2h][qd][2c] flop and Kornuth called before both checked the [ad] turn. The board completed with the [4h] and Kornuth's 200,000 bet earned a quick fold from Carrel. He moved up to 2,810,000. -- MC
5:05pm: Level up

Blinds are up again in this event. We're now playing 60,000-120,000 (10,000 ante) in Level 22. And by "we" I mean "they".
4:50pm: Kornuth doubles through Bertilsson
Level 21 - Blinds 50,000-100,000 (10,000 ante)
Anton Bertilsson's terrible level has continued after he doubled up Chance Kornuth.
The latter moved all in for 980,000 from under the gun and Bertilsson did the same, for 2,160,000, from the next seat. The other two players folded and the cards were flipped up.

Bertilsson: [kc][js]
The board ran a blank [tc][8s][8h][4s][3c]. Bertilsson dropped down to 1,180,000. Kornuth has about double. -- MC
4:45pm: Kanit pulls huge bluff on Bertilsson
Level 21 - Blinds 50,000-100,000 (10,000 ante)
It takes a brave man to take on Mustapha Kanit in a raising war but having queens as ammunition always helps. But it still didn't work out. Anton Bertilsson had the queens but Kanit pulled off a huge bluff, out of position, to take an overwhelming chip lead with 9,525,000.
Bertilsson opened to 200,000 from the button with [qs][qh] before Kanit three-bet with 530,000 [qd][9d]. The Swede came back with a four-bet to 1,180,000 and Kanit decided to call.
The flop spread [8s][ad][8h] and Bertilsson continued for 750,000 and Kanit floated to see a [7h] appear on the turn. Both players checked and that was invitation enough for Kanit to bluff the river, to the tune of 1,750,000.
Bertilsson only had 2,360,000 behind and decided to preserve them by folding after thinking for a few minutes. -- MC
4:35pm: Rossiter eliminated in fifth (€137,200)
Level 21 - Blinds 50,000-100,000 (10,000 ante)
As expected, Jeff Rossiter is the next man out. He got his mighty one big blind stack in the middle with [ks][jh] but found Mustapha Kanit with [ad][kc]. The board ran [3s][kh][2h][7h][as] and that was the end of the party for Rossiter. The damage was done earlier. He takes €137,200.

4:30pm: Cooler leaves Rossiter with fumes
Level 21 - Blinds 50,000-100,000 (10,000 ante)
Jeffrey Rossiter has dropped down to just 135,000 after he made a smaller flush than Charlie Carrel, who is up to five million.
Rossiter opened to 200,000 from first to act and Carrel defended his big blind. The flop fell [3h][2s][2h] and Rossiter continued for 150,000. Carrel check-called to the [8d] turn where he checked to face a 400,00 bet from his Aussie opponent. He called once more and then moved all in for 1,715,000 when the board completed with the [kh].
Rossiter snap called with [jh][9h] but soon saw the bad news as Carrel opened [ah][8h] for the nut flush. -- MC
4.20pm: Much needed double for Rossiter
Level 21 - Blinds 50,000-100,000 (10,000 ante)
Jeffrey Rossiter needed a double up this level and just got one courtesy of Charlie Carrel.
Carrel shoved on Rossiter, blind-on-blind, one orbit earlier and got him to fold deuces, but there was no way that Rossiter was folding the next time around. He called all in for 1,320,000.

The board ran [6d][ad][8h][jc][4d] to see Carrel drop to 2,300,000.
4.05pm: They're back

Level 20 - Blinds 40,000-80,000 (10,000 ante)
We are through the first two levels of the day and the remaining five players are taking a hard-earned break. Here's how they line up:

3.40pm: Two pair good for Carrel
Level 20 - Blinds 40,000-80,000 (10,000 ante)
Charlie Carrel has got back on the right track by making two pair against Anton Bertilsson to rise to 3,200,000.
The Swede opened to 160,000 with [jh][jc] and Carrel peeled from the big blind with [qs][4s]. The flop came [tc][qd][8h] and Carrel check called 160,000. He did the same, for another 355,000, on the [4d] turn before both players checked the [5h] river. Carrel opened his hand and Bertilsson mucked to drop to 4,560,000. -- MC
3:25pm: Keith Johnson eliminated in sixth (€106,330)
Level 20 - Blinds 40,000-80,000 (10,000 ante)
Keith Johnson, who got into this event for €3,000 in a last-chance satellite, has ended his €25,000 High Roller run. He is out in sixth, winning €106,300.
Anton Bertilsson, who also qualified in a satellite, took him out. Action folded to Bertilsson in the small blind and he raised to 1.64 million -- a bet designed to put Johnson, with a stack of about a million, to a decision for his tournament life.
Johnson knew it was do or die, especially after he found [as][5h]. And after a little while, he called. But was in bad shape against Bertilsson's [6s][6d].
Johnson earlier won a hand like this, with a bare ace, but he couldn't do it twice. The board ran [7c][5c][2s][qs][jh] and Johnson took his leave, the first six-figure winner of this festival. -- HS
3:15pm: More for Mustapha
Level 20 - Blinds 40,000-80,000 (10,000 ante)
"You did not invite me to your wedding, and you expect me not to three-bet?" said Mustapha Kanit to Chance Kornuth after the latter folded to give up a hand.
Kornuth opened to 180,00 with [7h][7d] from first position before Kanit three-bet to 400,000 with [js][jh]. Jeffrey Rossiter got away from [9d][9c] in the big blind and Kornuth made the call.
The flop fanned [4d][td][2h] and Kornuth check-folded to Kanit's 325,000 c-bet to drop to 1,500,000.
Kanit increased his lead with a stack that grew to 6,280,000. -- MC
3pm: Kanit gets there on the river
Level 20 - Blinds 40,000-80,000 (10,000 ante)
Mustapha Kanit starred yesterday as much for his table talk as for his play and the final witnessed classic "Mustapha" chat just now in a big pot versus Charlie Carrel.
Kanit opened with [tc][8c] from under the gun and Carrel just called with [kh][kd] in the next seat. Kanit then emptied the clip with bets of 200,000, 500,000 and 1,400,000 on each street of a [3c][6c][6h][9d][7h] board.
Carrel called the first two bets and then tanked on the river as Kanit chatted away to him. Kanit ran through all the combination of hands he could have, including the hand he actually had.
Carrel ended up folding and Kanit said to him, "Good fold, bro!" before allowing him to see one card. The [tc] was exposed.
It was a big fold on the end from Carrel, having slow-played his big pocket pair. But, as ElkY pointed out on commentary duty, the only time Carrel put money in the pot, he was ahead. And he folded by the time he was behind.

2:45pm: Carrel continues to crush
Level 19 - Blinds 30,000-60,000 (10,000 ante)
Charlie Carrel has passed the four million mark after winning a limped pot versus Mustapha Kanit in the blinds.
Kanit checked over all three streets of a [3h][8d][6s][th][qc] board to Carrel, who bet 80,000, 200,000 and 650,000. Kanit hung around to the river and thought for over two minutes with [ad][7h] before he folded. Good job too as Carrel had [qd][6h] for two pair. -- MC
2:25pm: Carrel balances his bluffing question range
Level 19 - Blinds 30,000-60,000 (10,000 ante)
"Where did you get your hoodie from?" Charlie Carrel asked Keith Johnson after the latter folded to a river bet. The table laughed but none of them were aware if Carrel had it that time.
The board read [4h][3s][5s][kh][qd] and Carrel had bet 200,000 (from the big blind) on the turn and then 450,000 on the river. Johnson was on the button and called the turn bet before thinking for couple of minutes, and then folding on the river. It was a good fold as his ace-ten was behind to Carrel's king-nine.
On the next hand, Carrel picked up red aces in the small blind and raised to 180,000. Jeff Rossiter called in the big blind and they saw a flop of [3d][as][tc]. That was pretty sweet for Carrel, but his c-bet got an immediate fold from Rossiter. -- MC/HS
2:15pm: Carrel applies pressure
Level 19 - Blinds 30,000-60,000 (10,000 ante)
The technical problem has been fixed and play resumed with a 120,000 under-the-gun raise from Anton Bertilsson. Charlie Carrel was on the button with [7h][4h] and put in a three-bet to 325,000. Bertilsson thought for a minute and then binned his [ah][js].
As Carrel was raking in the chips he tried to change the subject by asking Bertilsson where he got his sunglasses. Chance Kornuth said that signified that Carrel was bluffing. Good read! -- MC
2pm: Johnson wins a battle of the blinds
Level 19 - Blinds 30,000-60,000 (10,000 ante)
Mustapha Kanit played his first hand of the final table, but lost it to Keith Johnson in a battle of the blinds.
The two players took to a [9s][8s][ts] flop where Johnson check-called a 75,000 bet from the Italian. He check-called another bet on the [4c] turn before both players checked the [7c] river. Johnson opened [tc][9c] for two pair and Kanit mucked.
Kanit got a few of those chips back in the very next hand when successfully three-bet Johnson off a hand after he raised from the button.

1:50pm: Nick Petrangelo eliminated in seventh place (€84,040)

On only the third hand of the day, the table has been reduced to six players with the elimination of Nick Petrangelo.
The action folded around to the American in the small blind and he moved all in for his last 490,000. Jeffrey Rossiter was in the big blind and snap called to set up a showdown.

Rossiter: [qh][8s]
Pertrangelo just had to hold but could not manage it as a [7d][qs][kc][6d][6h] board gave Rossiter a winning two pair. Rossiter moved up to 1,640,000, while Petrangelo heads home in seventh, earning €84,040.
1:45pm: Ivan Luca eliminated in eighth place (€65,110)
Level 19 - Blinds 30,000-60,000 (10,000 ante)
After that unlucky start versus Keith Johnson, Ivan Luca never managed to recover and was the first player to bust from this final table.
Chance Kornuth picked up [ah][kd] and moved all in, for 1,290,000, from early position. After Keith Johnson folded pocket sixes, Ivan Luca, tank called off his remaining 100,000 from the button.
Nick Petrangelo found pocket sevens and pondered whether he should also get his money in here, but opted to fold. That left Luca and his [jh][5s].
It was, at least, live but he did not hit on a board than ran [2d][3d][ts][4s][th].
Kornuth saw his stack rise to 1,560,000. -- MC
1:40pm: Immediate action! Johnson cripples Luca
Level 19 - Blinds 30,000-60,000 (10,000 ante)
The very first hand of the final table and a pivotal moment for Keith Johnson. He open shoved from the cutoff with [ac][js] and Ivan Luca called from the small blind. Johnson was in trouble. Luca revealed his [jd][jc]. But the fat lady lost her voice and spare Johnson when the board came [6d][as][3d].
Luca now had one out, but neither the [ts] turn nor the [6h] river was it. Johnson doubles to 2.4 milion, while Luca has not even two big blinds. -- HS
