NBA Daily Fantasy Sports Situations To Capitalize On

With the NBA playing games every day and teams playing multiple games a week, Daily Fantasy Sports players go through cycles with players who gain DFS value for a time due to an injury or starting lineup change.

That player’s price either rises to the point where he’s priced fairly, or his situation reverts back to one where he’s no longer valuable. Each week, we’ll be digging through the league for situations like this that DFS players should be looking to benefit from over the next few days.

Atlanta Hawks

Kent Bazemore rejoined the starting lineup Monday, sending Thabo Sefolosha to the bench. Bazemore responded with a monster 28-point, 5-rebound, 2-assist, 1-steal and 1-block game in 39 minutes of action. While it’s unclear whether this lineup change is going to stick, Bazemore will have some DFS value for the time being if it does.

Cleveland Cavaliers

Kyrie Irving is set to return soon. When he does, it should diminish the value of Lebron James and Kevin Love.

Denver Nuggets

With Emmanuel Mudiay nursing a right ankle sprain, Jameer Nelson makes for a high floor, low ceiling option at his current price in any game he draws a start.

Detroit Pistons

Keep an eye on Ersan Ilyasova as a tournament option over the next week or two. My sense is the Pistons are going to start letting him play a bit more than his 26-minute season average. I wouldn’t use him in cash games just yet.

Los Angeles Clippers

Chris Paul appears to be the Chris Paul of old at the moment, but his price on many DFS sites doesn’t reflect that. You may be getting a steep discount on CP3 for the time being. In fact, the entire Clippers team, outside of games in San Antonio and Utah, appears to be too cheap for their production and upcoming schedule.

Memphis Grizzlies

A big shake up to the starting lineup has resulted in two well-played games for the Grizz. Matt Barnes and Jeff Green appear to be the two biggest beneficiaries, both seeing increased minutes and production over the last two games. Zach Randolph has been moved into a bench role. Marc Gasol also may benefit from this lineup change.

Milwaukee Bucks

Injuries have befallen the Bucks, leaving coach Jason Kidd with a very thin group that he actually wants to use in games. At guard, Michael Carter-Williams is a risky yet high upside DFS play, with O.J. Mayo being bit steadier. Khris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo are both logging heavy minutes. Center Greg Monroe was a late scratch Tuesday and if he misses time, John Henson stands to be a strong value.

New Orleans Pelicans

Tyreke Evans is back in full swing and is someone to consider for now.

New York Knicks

Pumping the brakes on the Porzingis train, for now.

Oklahoma City Thunder

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook are both crushing it right now. Serge Ibaka also seems to be rounding into form and is very cheap in DFS relative to his skillset and role.

Orlando Magic

Nikola Vucevic is a strong DFS play on many sites currently. Orlando seems to be leaning on him a little more than they were a couple weeks ago, and he’s a very productive big man.

Philadelphia 76ers

For as long as Nerlens Noel is out, Jahlil Okafor will see increased productivity and more reliable minutes.

Sacramento Kings

Demarcus Cousins has struggled a bit of late, resulting in his price dropping some. Be ready to capitalize, because this guy is a total beast who should return to form soon and be a strong value even at an elevated price.

Utah Jazz

Gordon Hayward has been playing great ball since the Rudy Gobert injury, save for a Kawhi Leonard induced dud in San Antonio. He’s definitely a hair too cheap in DFS right now.

Always remember when playing NBA DFS that nearly every piece of news can have some sort of trickle down effect on the rest of the roster. Whether it’s a minute increase or a usage increase, players can benefit in various ways from a DFS perspective based on what’s going on with their team.
